Happy Groundhog Day

A day celebrated in the USA which predicts the beginning of Spring.

If the groundhog emerges from it burrow and it is cloudy, then Spring will arrive early.

If it is sunny, the groundhogs shadow will scare it, and the groundhog will retract back into its burrow.  This means that Winter will there for another 6 weeks.

Wonder how true this is and if it actually does happen as stated.
